What is a Disc Bulge?! "Whiteboard Talks" Quarantine Special!

Did you know that 50% of the adult population suffers from disc injuries? If you are a young adult, disc injuries usually happen after some sort of trauma, like a sports injury or a car accident. And if you’re a bit older, they usually arise slowly from doing things over and over again for many years, like sitting. There’s good news and there’s bad news for these people who suffer from disc injuries.

The bad news is that disc injuries are considered “chronic injuries”. This means that it’s something that you have to deal with for the rest of your life. But wait there’s also good news! Just because you have a chronic injury doesn’t mean that it’s something that should be causing you pain every single day. In fact, we like to say that chronic injuries, like disc injuries, are like an active volcano. Most of the time they lie dormant with no signs of activity, but you have to be careful because at any minute that volcano can erupt!

We believe that education is how you gain power over just about every condition that poses a threat to your health, so our goal is to educate you on ways to keep your volcano lying dormant and reduce the risk of your volcano erupting!

In our first ever episode of “Whiteboard Talks” we are going to use the educational power of a whiteboard to teach you about the three different types of disc injuries:

1. Disc Bulge (5:02)
2. Disc Herniations (7:52)
3. Disc Rupture/aka Prolapse (13:16).
